History of Emprise

Emprise began as O’Brien & O’Brien Pty Ltd in Sydney, Australia in 1992 when the owners and principal consultants - Shaun O'Brien and Carole O'Brien - left IBM to establish a specialist data management and application enabling consultancy.

In 1993, O&O joined forces with a third long term IBM consultant to establish Creative Relational Solutions Pty Ltd (CRS). CRS distributed RELTECH Products’ “DB EXCEL Information Repository” in Australia and provided consulting services specifically related to the DB EXCEL product family and Relational DBMS.

Platinum Technology acquired RELTECH Products and all rights to the DB EXCEL product in 1995.  Without the repository product focus, CRS broadened its outlook,  bringing the goals of CRS, and its parent company, O’Brien & O’Brien, closer together.

Shaun and Carole made the decision to move to Perth in 1996, and took advantage of the move to focus their efforts into one company, with a common mission.  The Emprise identity became a reality in May, 1997.

The decision to combine the companies, and to change the name of the remaining company to Emprise, reflected both the continuing objective of providing high quality application enabling and data management consulting, and the now realised plans for a greater focus into other areas, including project management and process improvement.  “Creative Solutions” will, however, always remain a key part of the Emprise philosophy.
