Admission is free to therapists, the general public, end users & ATSA members.

Why should you attend?

In 2020, the ATSA Independent Living Expo is set to have more than 100 exhibitors displaying a wide range of products and services in assistive technology, mobility solutions, pressure care, employment support, accessible recreation/holiday ideas, modified motor vehicles and a lot more.

As a member of ATSA, the team from Emprise Mobility has attended these Expos on the east coast for many years.  The ability to poke, prod and play with such a large array of equipment is invaluable. There is nothing that competes with the hands-on experience and talking directly to the suppliers to get details about their products. The free Seminar Program that runs as part of the Expo is key benefit for Allied Health Professionals whose clients could benefit from assistive technology.

This is the second time the Expo has come to Perth, and we’re expecting it be bigger and better than the 2018 Expo.

Audience:

ATSA Independent Living Expo is open to visitors of all ages, including those with a disability, seniors and their families, friends and carers.

This expo is for you if:

  • You rely on assistive technology in your daily life.
  • If you are a family member or carer of someone who relies on assistive technology in their daily lives.
  • If you are a student studying to support or prescribe for individuals who rely upon assistive technology.
  • If you are a professional who supports or prescribes for individuals who rely upon assistive technology.
  • If you are an AT retailer or supplier and would like to get a better understanding of the depth and breadth of the AT range available from national and international suppliers.

The Free Seminar Program

A key feature of the Expo is the FREE Seminar Program – run in rooms conveniently located next to the exhibition floor.

We’re very excited that our Assistive Technology Occupational Therapist, Jane Milne, has had a paper accepted for the Seminar Program.   Jane will be presenting at 11.15am on Thursday 6 May.

Abstract of Jane’s presentation:

Many NDIS participants require complex and high-risk AT due to the nature of health conditions and disability.  Equipment trials are required to determine effectiveness and suitability for the participant before the equipment is approved and funded. In many cases, participants are receiving equipment to trial inappropriate to their needs.  The iterations involved in reaching the best-fit solution not only impact upon the participant, but unnecessarily take money out of their Capital Supports budget.

This short presentation aims to equip AT assessors to collaborate effectively with equipment suppliers to identify likely “best-fit” solutions for trial, supporting optimal and timely outcomes for their clients.
